Board-certified, fellowship-trained, and in this community for over two decades.
For many people living with chronic pain, the most frustrating words they hear are "you'll just have to live with it." Dr. Munir has spent nearly two decades proving there's a better approach — one built on a simple conviction: pain that keeps returning is often pain that has never been fully understood.
Patients often come to him after years of unsuccessful treatments, multiple specialists, medications, injections, or even surgery — searching for answers when others have run out of options. His approach is diagnosis-first: careful evaluation, a personalized treatment plan, and a focus on restoring the function that lets patients return to the lives they love.
Dr. Munir earned his medical degree from Mayo Hospital in Lahore, Pakistan, before pursuing research at Yale University School of Medicine. He completed his anesthesiology residency at the University of Arkansas and a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School. In 2008, he founded SWOPI with a vision of transforming pain care through accurate diagnosis, evidence-based treatment, and compassionate care.
"I have always believed that every pain has a cause, and every patient deserves the time and attention to find it. My mission is not simply to manage symptoms, but to understand why they exist, identify their source, and help each patient reclaim the life chronic pain has taken from them."
— Dr. Munir

Specializing in image-guided injection therapy and physical medicine, Dr. Pham brings a whole-person approach that treats the cause of pain, not just the symptom — and patients consistently mention how thoroughly he explains what's happening in their body.
A board-certified Nurse Practitioner, Shanhong graduated with honors from the University of Cincinnati and completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a subspecialty in Adult/Gerontology Primary Care. She joined SWOPI in 2018, completed dedicated training in pain management, and partners closely with Dr. Munir and Dr. Pham in patient care.
Medical assistants, imaging techs, and a front desk that works you in the same week whenever possible. You'll know most of them by name after two visits.
You'll meet them before you meet a needle — and you'll know most of them by name after two visits.
Nobody should feel like navigating healthcare is harder than managing their pain. My job is to make sure it isn't.
Pain is isolating. Part of my role is making sure no patient feels alone in this process — from the moment they arrive.
Every detail behind the scenes exists for one reason — so the patient in front of us gets the best possible care.
When someone is in pain, the last thing they need is to feel like a number. I make sure every patient feels seen from the moment they arrive.
Pain is personal. I make sure every patient feels heard and comfortable before anything else happens — because that changes everything about the care they receive.
The questions I ask matter more than the forms I fill out. Because understanding what brought you in changes how we treat you.
Same-week appointments in most cases. Bring your imaging, your history, and every question you have.
